Children and Youth
Children
RPC Preschool
Riverside Presbyterian Church Preschool provides a quality preschool experience for children ages three through five. Classes meet Monday through Friday.Faith Formation
Sunday mornings, children preschool – 5th grade are invited to leave worship after the mini-message to participate in Faith Formation. The time is spent interacting with stories in the Bible to think about how they apply to them as children in today’s world. The activities are multi-sensory including art, music, games and cooking. On first Sundays, the children will come back to the sanctuary to participate in communion.
Scottswood Singers
At RPC we believe that everyone can find lifelong joy in making music, and a central part of our music ministry is providing free music education to kids from preschool through 5th grade. Kara has extensive experience teaching children for many years through Wiggleworms and Little Red Piano classes at Old Town School of Folk Music. She also teaches private piano, voice, theory and songwriting. The Scottswood Singers play fun warm up games, learn solfège and prepare for their monthly Sunday worship performances. The Scottswood Singers main objective is to grow a deeper appreciation for music & movement, provide a public performance opportunity, and make friendships along the way. The Scottswood Singers rehearse on Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:15 pm during the school year. The Scottswood Singers are open to everyone ages 4-10 in the community and do not need to be church members to participate.
Summer Camp
RPC Offers Summer Camp from 8:30 - 3:30 for select weeks in the summer. Limited to 30 participants and staffed by three adults and three teens counselors, the camp provides an array of activities for children from 3 - 8 years of age. This student to staff ratio allows for personal interactions and activities tailored to the participants in a safe and healthy environment. Email lynda@rpcusa.org for more information!
Cub Scouts
Youth
Annually, youth of the church come together with youth throughout the country in a summer mission trip experience. Locations and activities vary each year and have included work with Habitat for Humanity, Appalachia Service Project and Presbyterian Disaster Relief.
